Not trouble for us, I mean. Trouble for them.

[He's frowning down at the running crowd.]

[court_chesster]

Oh.

[He watches for a bit, and the more he watches the more chaotic things do seem to appear down there.]

Yeah, probably.

[whenitrainsitstorms]

[Nods like he didn't expect anything less.]

Right. Let's go.

[And he angles downward toward the chaos below, swooping in toward the ground.]

[court_chesster]

[At first he stays right where he is. What kind of idiot does he look like?

But as he watches the stranger swoop, it occurs to him in the back of his mind that people can't fly. And so he plummets straight downward, only saving himself from crashing directly into the street by grabbing hold of a street lamp.]

[whenitrainsitstorms]

[People can't fly, but this one seems like no one gave him the memo. He hits the ground feet first and doesn't quite stick the landing, momentum propelling him forward a few steps before he rights himself.]

[When he straightens, it's with a quick glancing-over to make sure your perch isn't too precarious - and to see what all the chaos down here is about.]

[court_chesster]

[He scrambles up until he's sitting on the light.]

You can go loot the place if you want, but don't drag me down here with you!

[whenitrainsitstorms]

I can -?

Who's talking about looting? There might still be people in there!

[court_chesster]

[Pulls out a hot dog on a stick to roast on the flames of a burning building.]

Also fire. There are many reasons why looting is a bad idea.

[whenitrainsitstorms]

[This is the most disgusted little tch sound you can imagine.]

[Then he sure is running into that building you're roasting sausages on.]

[court_chesster]

[The building is hollow on the inside, one big empty shell. It's not full of people after all; it's full of cute, frightened little bunny rabbits huddling in a corner to avoid the flames.]

[The jerk outside leans over and watches through a window as he munches on his sausage.]

[Help the rabbits or go try and get people out of the other buildings? He hesitates a second, then goes to try and scoop the bunnies up. They're right here, he'll be out in a second.]

[Ignoring that sausage-muncher in the window SO HARD.]

[court_chesster]

[The cute and fuzzy bunnies are easy enough to round up. They are probably grateful! They'll all hop to safety under Mr. Sausage-Muncher's street lamp as soon as they're out the door. Maybe not so grateful. Still cute, though, unlike certain people who are this dude.]

Nice.

It'd be faster if you were down here helping instead of taking a dinner break.

[Here we go - second building.]

[court_chesster]

Do I look like a firefighter to you?

[After saying that he checks himself to confirm that no, he does not indeed look like a firefighter. He doesn't look like much of anyone. Instead of moving to help, he swings upside-down on his perch to pick up a rabbit to pet. The next building has a friendly puppy within!]

[Already on his way out of the second building with the puppy by the scruff of its neck.]

You don't have to be a firefighter to fight fires.

And anyway - we're not fighting it. We're getting them out.

[court_chesster]

[Hops down and reaches for the puppy.]

Don't pick at the semantics! I'm trying to tell you I'm not stupid enough to rush headlong into a burning building!

[The buildings are starting to collapse into piles of smoldering ash, anyway.]

[Ffffreezes. Did he spend too long bickering when he could have been getting people out?]

[There's time for one more building, right? He sure is going to try. Ignoring you for right now, there are more important things.]

[court_chesster]

[And behind door number three is... a tiger cub! It's pawing at a pile of ash that has some human bones in it. Is it mourning its master or does it just want to chew on one? It's hard to say.]

[Meanwhile, outside, this loser has made friends with the bunnies.]

[Should have left the bunnies. Should have left the puppy. People were in here burning while I was busy with things that didn't matter.]

[Grabbing that tiger cub by the scruff of the neck anyway, practically tossing it outside as soon as he clears the building. Then he has to take a second to try and breathe, coughing out smoke.]

[court_chesster]

[Oh no, this is the best rescue yet. Setting down the other animals, completely ignoring the other person, he tries to coax over the tiger.]

Heeere kitty~

[Aaaand there go the rest of the buildings.]

[Just kind of. Deflates a little.]

[court_chesster]

[Peers up from the tiger he's petting.]

Why'd you do that?

Do what?

[court_chesster]

Why, when you see burning buildings, is your first thought, 'I better run straight in there'?

[whenitrainsitstorms]

Because it's better than thinking, "I'd better sit here and roast this sausage while people burn."
